According to him, for a variety of reasons, Russia is not indifferent to how events will develop in the Bolivarian Republic, in particular, how opposing political movements will be able to normalize relations.

Putin also spoke about his attitude to the events taking place in Venezuela, including the leader of the opposition National Assembly of the country Juan Guaido, who declared himself the head of state.

“Mr. Guaido walked out to the square, looked up to the sky and, turning to the Lord, declared himself president. Oh well. But the Lord did not tell us how he reacted to this appeal, he did not give us any signal. Therefore, I think that it is necessary to return to our sinful, frail land and follow democratic procedures and rules that boil down to one thing - to dialogue, to appeal to the people, to voters, to go to elections, and to solve issues of future development at elections ”, - he stressed.

According to Putin, Moscow welcomes the dialogue that has begun between the legitimate authorities of Venezuela and the opposition, expressing the hope that, within the framework of such a dialogue, solutions acceptable to both sides will be developed to resolve the crisis.

Earlier, Putin commented on calls by European partners to Russia regarding the need to comply with the provisions of the Minsk agreements.
