RTD TV channel together with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is preparing a full-length documentary Wild and Free, timed to the 25th anniversary of the foundation’s work in Russia. The painting will show the work of the foundation staff in preserving the rarest animals living in Russia.

The film was shot in Southern Siberia, Primorsky Krai and Chukotka. Work on the tape will continue until November-December.

The heroes of the picture were the Amur tigers, polar bears, falcons and falcons and walruses, which, thanks to the efforts of the staff of the wildlife fund, continue to live in their natural habitat, in nature reserves.

“Our film is about animals. But the main characters are still people in it, ”said Ekaterina Yakovleva, head of the RTD channel. - One hero who protects the falcon population has suffered encephalitis three times due to his activities. Another survived the attack of the tigress, but still decided to help the Amur tigers regain their numbers. ”

  • RTD announced a documentary about the rescue of rare predators

Work on the conservation of the Amur tiger in the Far East of Russia is carried out in close cooperation with specially authorized state organizations with the support of the Amur Tiger Center and WWF Russia.

The trailer for the film was shown at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the WWF Russian representative office. A press conference was held as part of the anniversary celebration of the Ball on the Grass.

On it, the Foundation staff spoke about innovations in the protection of endangered species of animals.

For example, now WWF actively recruits poachers. In Altai, where the illegal hunt for the Red Book snow leopard is still being hunted, the hunters are identified and offered an alternative: they begin to follow the leopards through camera traps and get paid for their honest work.

“In this way, we not only protect the snow leopards from destruction, but also support people financially,” added Victoria Elias, director of environmental programs at WWF.

According to her, the number of people who refuse illegal fishing in favor of working for the fund is constantly growing. Representatives of the foundation are hoping to extend this practice to several more regions with rare animals.

At the press conference, they did not forget about the notorious Far Eastern whale prison, which the whole country learned about after a straight line with the president.

WWF representatives assured that they are closely monitoring the situation and support their colleagues in the protection of marine animals - the Sakhalin Environmental Watch.
Recall, from the enclosures in Srednyaya Bay, some of the animals have already been released.

WWF’s Russian representative office today operates not only in Moscow, there are branches in Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Kamchatka.

For 25 years of work in the Far East, special “bear patrols” have been created to protect people from wild animals and to observe predators. The destroyed bison population was restored in the North Caucasus, and the number of Amur tigers increased to almost 540 individuals.

In honor of its 25th anniversary, the Russian office of WWF established the Laura Williams Prize, which founded and headed the office of the Wildlife Fund in Russia. Thanks to her work, the Bryansk Forest Reserve appeared.

Prize and cash grant will be awarded to young environmentalists for achievements in the field of wildlife conservation in Russia.
