Zelensky said he would defend the Ukrainian language

This is stated in a message published on the website of the press service of the President of Ukraine.

He noted that "the Constitution states that the only state language in Ukraine is Ukrainian."

“I, as president, as the guarantor of the Constitution, will defend the Ukrainian language, our sovereignty and our course towards Europe and NATO,” added Zelensky.

In May, Ukrainian children's writer Larisa Nitsoy expressed outrage that the Russian language was heard in Zelensky’s inaugural address.
