At least 41 people died in an accident at a copper and cobalt mine in southeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Kamoto Copper Company, a subsidiary of Swiss commodities giant Glencore, puts the figure at 19 dead. These are illegal miners. In the south of the country, thousands are working illegally in these mines, from which more than half of the world's cobalt production is extracted.
