The situation of migrants stranded in Mexico is starting to raise a lot of criticism and not just from NGOs on the ground. This is notably the case of Guatemala, a country bordering Mexico, which denounce the non-respect of agreements between the two countries and demand information on its fellow citizens. Migrants who would be held in lamentable conditions, which denies Mexico. The images of migrants who died while trying to reach the United States make this subject a controversy and not only in the United States.

Inhuman conditions, degrading treatment, no medical help and especially no information about the treatment of their file. This is in summary what the Guatemalan authorities have denounced who informed it Wednesday at the INM, the Mexican National Institute of Migration.

Ranger Morales, consul of Guatemala in the state of Chiapas has even called for the arrival of a delegation of the National Commission of Human Rights to change the situation. Conditions that are even more severe for migrants qualified as " extracontinental ", that is to say, who do not come from Central America or South America, but mainly from Africa, Cuba, the United States, Haiti and Asia.

In Tapachula, in the state of Chiapas, these migrants are literally parked in a place normally dedicated to fairs. Migrants who sleep on the ground, who eat on average only once or twice a day if they are lucky.

They would be a thousand in this situation, according to Luis Rey Villagran, director of the organization For Human Dignity, which estimates that 30% of these migrants are minors.

A center that has recorded many mutinies and even fugues for many months given the conditions of reception and especially the lack of information, the main source of concern for these migrants. A situation that begins to resonate beyond this state of Chiapas.
