“The Council considers it important to unite efforts to ensure the safety of Russian journalists who fulfill their professional duties outside Russia,” the press service of the council said.

The HRC also welcomed the OSCE’s position on the inadmissibility of violence against media representatives during protests in Georgia and expressed their willingness to cooperate with an international organization to monitor the progress of investigations into these incidents.

On June 22, Georgian nationalists attempted to beat the correspondent and operator of the Russia 24 TV channel during an interview with the owners of a local travel agency.

In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that Georgia ensure the safety of Russian journalists.

Subsequently, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case on the fact of an attack on Russian journalists in Tbilisi.
