The champions of the CAN 2017 refused Thursday night to embark for Egypt claiming a doubling of their premium for participation in the football competition that begins Friday and must be held until July 21. After the refusal of the indomitable Lions to take the plane, the Minister of Sports of Cameroon presided in the night of Thursday to Friday a meeting of consultation with the representatives of the players.

An additional bonus of 5 million FCFA

On this occasion, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) has proposed an extra performance bonus of 5 million CFA francs (€ 7,600) to Cameroonian players.

In a letter to the minister on Friday, the Indomitable Lions announced that they "decided to stop all negotiations", saying that the proposed premium was still " unsatisfactory ", but indicating that they would " travel to Egypt for Friday .

The Indomitable Lions must play their first game on Tuesday, June 25th. They are part of group F which also includes Guinea-Bissau, Ghana and Benin. The regulation stipulates that each team must arrive in the host country of the CAN at least five days before its first match, the Cameroonians should have touched the Egyptian soil by Thursday, but it seems that the CAF has decided not to sanction the Indomitable Lions for their delay.
