The France team will meet Sunday in Le Havre Brazil in the round of 16 of the Women's World Cup football, the result of Chile's victory Thursday against Thailand on the score of 2-0.
Having advanced in Group C by Italy and Australia but having managed to finish among the best third, the Brazilian will therefore challenge in three days the host country of the World Cup-2019 Océane stadium at 21:00 (19:00 GMT).
Teammates of striker Marta, top scorer in World Cup history, were eliminated in the eighth at the 2015 World Cup, beaten 1-0 by Australia.
Les Bleues, who have won three victories in as many games in Group A, will have to assume their status of favorites against the 10th ranking Fifa.
The two nations faced off only once in the World Cup, during the 2003 edition, with a draw (1-1) in the group stage.
In eight confrontations, the French have never lost against Canarinhas (three wins, five draws).
In November 2018, they won 3-1 friendly in Nice in their last clash.
The Brazilian selection has already reached the final of the World Cup in 2007 while his counterpart tricolor has for best result a semifinal in 2011.
