Roger Federer (N.3) defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (N.77) on Thursday in the eighth-finals of Halle's grass tournament after a sumptuous match of more than two hours.
The Swiss win 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 and will meet in the quarterfinal Spaniard Bautista Agut, who easily defeated another French, Richard Gasquet (6-1, 6-4 ).
Tsonga, who had hardly played in 2018 due to injuries, delivered an epic battle to the man with 20 Grand Slam victories, and lost after two hours and 16 minutes.
