“The planned purchase by Ankara of the Russian ZRS-S-400 will have serious consequences for the relations of the United States with Turkey. The United States really wants to avoid such steps. However, this requires the willingness of Turkey to engage in a meaningful dialogue on the rejection of the purchase of the C-400. The US is ready to discuss how to minimize any consequences that could result in such a refusal, ”a representative of the US administration told TASS.
According to her, S-400 is a Russian “intelligence gathering platform”.
At the same time, a representative of the administration added that retaliatory measures in the event Turkey received Russian complexes "would prove painful and costly for the United States."
Earlier, the media reported that the administration of the United States President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against Turkey in July because of the purchase of the C-400.
