Italy's Elia Viviani (Deceuninck) on Wednesday won the 5th stage of the 177-kilometer Tour de Suisse between Münchenstein and Einsiedeln, ahead of Slovakia's Peter Sagan (Bora), still the overall leader.

The stage victory was played for the second day in a row between the two riders and Elia Viviani won again the duel. The Italian has preceded the triple world champion in a winding final with a final bend almost 100 meters from the finish.

"When that happens, life is beautiful!" pleased the 30-year-old rider at the end of the stage.

Peter Sagan still retains the yellow jersey of leader of the general classification on the shoulders, which he had acquired thanks to his victory in the sprint during the 3rd stage in front of Elia Viviani.

"I'm happy, I have two jerseys", relativized the Slovak, also leader of the ranking of sprinters. "They (Deceuninck) did not do anything of the day but Viviani won, he did a good job in the final," he added.

A group of three riders led this stage for a long time before Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Merida) escaped alone 38 km from the finish, finally taken back by the peloton 14 km from the goal.

The next stage will be the shortest of the 83rd edition of the Tour de Suisse, with only 120.2 km to go between Einsiedeln and Flumserberg. With nearly 2,000 meters of elevation gain and an arrival at the summit, this stage should be to the advantage of climbers.
