A driver attacked a blind man and his companion Sunday in Paris, stirring up excitement on social networks. He was arrested on Wednesday.

A driver who assaulted a blind man and his escort Sunday in Paris after denying them priority on a pedestrian crossing was placed in custody on Wednesday, police said.

A video widely relayed on the networks

Sunday, a blind person guiding with a white cane engages with a guide on a pedestrian crossing in the twelfth arrondissement, as shown in a video widely relayed on social networks. A big black sedan then brushes the two men, cutting them the priority.

The attendant gives a shot on the roof of the car that stops. The driver descends and physically and verbally assaults the attendant, slapping him. He also attacks the blind man. A witness tries to intervene as well as a lady who was in the car. When the witness announces that he is going to call the police, the man and the woman get back in their car and leave.

The Federation of the Blind and Amblyopes of France underlines the inadmissibility of this situation and invites the visually impaired person as well as his companion, to file a complaint right now so that this situation does not happen again and is condemned. pic.twitter.com/DQlIz2zY66
