The Nice-Matin Works Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to demand that businessman Xavier Niel and his competitor take over the newspaper, the French-Lebanese magnate Iskandar Safa, specific items on their offers before June 28th.

"The elected representatives demand that Messrs. Niel and Iskandar Safa communicate to the representatives of the employees of the works council of the SAS Groupe Nice-Matin the precise elements of the offers relating to the takeover of the assets of the company", writes in a statement the works council met in extraordinary session on Wednesday.

"The staff representatives are waiting, before June 28, the presentation of the real backup plan, with the key, the quantified elements of recovery of assets, social scope of recovery, retention of employment , industrial plans and editorial as well as development and investment projects, "the statement said.

"This request is of an urgent nature, the 456 employee shareholders will be convened on June 28 for a general meeting scheduled on July 12," says the EC.

Tired of his Belgian shareholder Nethys, the management of Nice-Matin had forced his hand to get the court of commerce a safeguard procedure and compel him to negotiate with Safa. It was not counting on the entry into exclusive negotiation of Nethys with Xavier Niel, co-owner of the daily newspaper Le Monde, for the resumption of a majority share of the 34% of the group owned by the company Nethys.

"Some employees are still naked in front of Mr. Niel's cavalier methods, and are legitimately worried," said SNJ's Romain Maksymowycz.

The full staff representatives (SNJ, FO, CGC and CGT book), about fifteen people, as well as the judicial administrator, were present at this extraordinary EC.
