It is 5 pm at the elementary school Le Vau, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. The class ends for the little ones, but it starts for a dozen parents of foreign origin.

Parents of students of foreign origin participate in the "open the school to parents for the success of children". Arrived more or less recently in France, many of them speak little or no French.

This was the case of Dionkounda Kanoute, mother of a little boy of Malian origin. For her, it is impossible until recently to read her son's notebook. "For a mother, nothing is more beautiful than helping her children with their homework," explains the mother, for whom the education of her children is so important.

Set up on an experimental basis ten years ago in 12 departments, the device - free - has since become national in scope. In 2019, 10,000 parents benefited from this, throughout France, including 600 in the capital.
