In Burkina Faso, a terrorist attack targeted the village of Béléhédé. On Tuesday, 18 June, armed men burst into the village of Tongomayel commune in the province of Soum and shot dead seventeen people. The Ministry of Defense announces that a large raking and security operation is underway while the survivors emptied the village.

According to the governor of the Sahel region, it was around 3 pm that the terrorist attack was perpetrated in the village of Béléhédé. This attack targeted mainly the inhabitants. According to a local source, the gunmen arrived on a motorcycle and shot at them at close range.

" They arrived and gathered people, " says our source. While locals believed in a session of preaching, they began shooting at them, explains our interlocutor. Some residents tried to escape but they were chased, doors were smashed and they were shot, says a local elected.

The victims include very old people and children. According to survivors' testimonies, reported by our source, the attackers made no claim.

The national armed forces immediately launched a sweeping operation to search and secure the area, according to the Ministry of Defense.

The survivors left Béléhédé. According to a security source, the village has completely emptied. Men, women and children took the direction of the city of Djibo.
