Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said yesterday that the Independent Rapporteur's report on the case of Jamal Khashoggi contained clear contradictions.

Al-Jubeir said in a series of tweets in his Twitter account that "nothing new ... the Rapporteur of the Human Rights Council repeats in its non-binding report what has been published and circulated in the media."

The report of the Rapporteur of the Human Rights Council contained clear contradictions and baseless allegations challenging its credibility.

He stressed that the ongoing trials in the case of the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, attended by representatives of the embassies of the five permanent members of the Security Council, in addition to Turkey and human rights organizations Saudi Arabia.

He said that the Kingdom's leadership had directed the necessary investigations, which had led to the arrest of a number of persons accused of the case, investigations were ongoing and trials were under way.

Al-Jubeir confirmed that the judicial authorities in Saudi Arabia are the only ones competent to deal with this issue and exercise their competencies in complete independence. We strongly reject any attempt to harm the Kingdom's leadership or remove the case from the course of justice in the Kingdom or influence it in any way.

Al-Jubeir stressed that the sovereignty of the Kingdom and the jurisdiction of its judicial institutions on this issue is unambiguous.
