With the support of the United Arab Emirates, a project has been opened to enhance water production capacity in the city of Al-Mukhaa on the western coast of Yemen, serving more than 30,000 residents of the city and its adjacent areas, in continuation of the support provided by the UAE to the Yemeni people.

"The project is to dig two artesian wells and provide them with 84 kW generator and two generators, two rooms for two wells and an electric generator room, and a network and electricity poles of 350 meters and connecting them to the main network," said Mohammed al-Junibi, director of humanitarian affairs for the UAE Red Crescent Society in Yemen. Extend the water network from the two wells to the main network with a distance of 300 meters.

Mr. Abdullah Mahmoud, Director General of Al-Mukhaa Municipality, said that this strategic project will provide water to the houses of the residents of Al-Makhha continuously for 24 hours, without interruption, and praised the great role played by the UAE, In order to improve, develop and provide services in the areas of water, electricity, education, health, and other areas serving Yemeni citizens in the West Coast and Yemen as a whole.

Director of the General Establishment of Water in Al-Mukhaa, Abdullah Ali Naji Iskandar, said that the project will end the problems of water shortage in the city. The project was completed in record time. Two wells were drilled at a depth of 65 meters with a productivity of 130 cubic meters per hour , Providing an 80 kW generator in the case of general power failure, connecting the pumping line with the old wells, and an electric transformer with two electrical grid and a generator.

For their part, residents of Al-Mukhaa City and beneficiaries from other regions who attended the opening of the project expressed their thanks and appreciation to the UAE for responding to their needs of water projects, education, health and fisheries, and other important service and development projects. The project is part of 31 projects implemented by the UAE in the liberated provinces of the western coast of Yemen.
