Statistics from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) show that the number of people with driving licenses over the age of 65 has reached 318 in the past two years.

Regarding the conditions required for the age group, which exceeds the advanced stages, to obtain a driving license, the Executive Director of the Licensing Agency at the Authority, Abdullah Al Ali, said that the granting and renewal of the driver's license is done regardless of the age group. The original is valid, in addition to paying the prescribed fees and passing the examination.

Al Ali pointed out that the number of licenses issued for the age group 65 years and above for the year 2017 amounted to 184 and that it represented 0.13% of the total licenses issued during that year, compared with 134 licenses for the same age group in 2018, which amounted to 0.11% of the total licenses Issued that year.

He reviewed the preparation of licenses issued by age groups until the end of last year 2018. He said that the largest percentage of licenses issued to the age group over the age of 46 years, which amounted to 196 million and 875 licenses, to come the age group between the ages of 32 and 41 years in second place, The number of licenses issued was 717,853 licenses, compared to 410 thousand and 132 licenses for the age group between 22 and 31 years.

The age group between 17 and 21 years was the lowest in terms of the number of licensees until the end of last year, amounting to 31 thousand and 834. Women accounted for 20% of the total number of licenses issued for all age groups, registered in the Authority's system, from its establishment until the end of 2018. The total number of these licenses reached 2 million 625 thousand and 85 licenses.
