Juventus Turin announced on Sunday that Italy's Maurizio Sarri will be his coach for the next three seasons.

Sarri, 60, was last season the coach of English club Chelsea, winner of the Europa League and third in the Premier League.

He succeeds Massimiliano Allegri, who has left the club after five consecutive Serie A titles.

Sarri was still under contract for two years with the Chelsea Blues, who said in a statement that the Italian coach had expressed, from the C3 final on May 29, "clearly how much he wanted to return to his homeland ".

"He also felt it was important to get closer to his family and, for the well-being of his elderly parents, he thought he should get closer to them," added the English club.

The best coach of the year 2015-2016 in Italy, while he was at the head of Naples, arrived in England last season.

It is precisely in Naples, that he guided to two second places behind the Juve (2016, 2018) that Sarri made a name in Europe.

Juventus have won the last eight leagues in Italy, scoring the last in April and finishing with eleven points ahead of their Neapolitan dolphin.

But the Old Lady, though reinforced by superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, remains on two premature eliminations in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, against Real Madrid in 2018 and Ajax Amsterdam this year.
