Once again in Normandy, Emmanuel Macron and Donalrd Trump have captured all the attention. The duel / duel Macron-Trump continued. But this time, with the desire to show a return to cordiality.

From our special correspondent in Caen, Valérie Gas

It was not the return of the great impulses of the beginning, when Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron new presidents had started to know each other. But this meeting in Normandy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day still marked a resumption of cordial contact between the two men after a period of crisis.

The differences have not disappeared, especially on Iran, but the discussions continue, and for Emmanuel Macron, this is perhaps the essential: keep in touch with Donald Trump. Always try to bring him back to the table of international discussions that he keeps wanting to escape.

Faced with Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron plays his main score, that of defender of multilateralism, values. Donald Trump is in a way his best opponent. The one that allows him to justify the role he has given himself on the international scene.

And then, there is this attraction of opposites that we feel in their personal relationship that everyone likes to stage with virile handshakes and braces, their wives as spectators.

In Normandy, Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump still played this scene but also had real discussions, which they will continue at the G20 in Japan and the G7 in France at the end of the summer, because finally Donald Trump should to return there.
