England and the Netherlands were forced to play the extra time in Thursday's semi-final in the League of Nations Guimaraes, after the first 90 minutes ended on a parity score of 1-1.
At the Afonso-Henriques stadium, the "Three Lions" thought they could make the difference on a penalty kick caused by the promising defender Matthijs de Ligt and transformed by Marcus Rashford (32). But De Ligt was brilliantly caught with a header on the corner (73), before the goal of 2-1 was denied to the English Jesse Lingard for offside after recourse to video arbitration (83) .
