"One cadet was killed, 20 cadets and two military personnel were injured after having had an accident on a light tactical vehicle of the middle class," the academy said on Twitter.
The injured were taken to hospital. An investigation is underway.
“It is very unfortunate to hear about the terrible incident with the participation of our wonderful West Point students. We mourn the dead and pray for the victims, ”wrote US President Donald Trump on Twitter.
