The president of the LREM group of the Assembly Gilles Le Gendre said Tuesday evening to its members that he would be a candidate for his succession during the mid-term internal reshuffle which must intervene at the end of July, one learned from parliamentary source .

Asked at a meeting of the majority group on the renewal of his own post, Mr. Le Gendre said he would represent, reported a participant.

The elected Paris has led the group of some 300 deputies since last September, replacing Richard Ferrand, himself elected President of the Assembly.

In total, nearly fifty positions are involved in the renewal, promised at the beginning of the legislature: vice-presidents, secretaries of the Assembly, committee chairmen, spokespersons, leaders in committee ("whips"). ) ... but not the President of the Assembly whose function is governed by the Constitution.

The meeting on Tuesday evening was devoted to the recasting of the internal regulation of the group of "walkers", which will provide that the holders will be able to represent themselves. The question of parity in key positions has been discussed at length, but not decided in its modalities.

At the beginning of July, MEPs will vote on the changes to the rules by secret ballot. A majority is in favor of an election for key positions before the summer break, leaving three weeks for candidates to campaign.

Recently interviewed by the press about his own fate, while some elected representatives of the majority evoke a "leadership problem" or a lack of "political sense", Mr. Le Gendre had launched about criticism: "I read them but I do not hear them ".
