Charline Picon, Olympic champion windsurfing in Guanabara Bay in Rio in 2016, is the first French woman selected for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, announced the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) on Tuesday.

After a maternity break in the wake of the 2016 Olympics, Charline Picon returned to competition in late April 2018, nine months after the birth of his daughter Lou.

At the Worlds-2018 in August in Aarhus (Denmark), she won the silver medal, ensuring the quota, non-nominative, for France in windsurfing.

On Tuesday, the CNOSF Selection Committee "heard the presentation made by the French Sailing Federation after it selected an athlete", and validated the choice of Charline Picon.

The 34-year-old windsurfer is therefore the first selected from the French delegation. In Rio, nearly 400 athletes had represented the colors of France, a record with nine teams engaged in team sports.
