American Sloane Stephens, a runner-up at Roland Garros and N.7 World, has reached the third round of Roland Garros by defeating Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain (75) in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (7). / 3) Wednesday.

Stephens will face American Jennifer Brady (80) or Slovenian Polona Hercog (71) for a spot in the round of 16.

After being led 6-1, 3-0, Sorribes served twice for the win in the second run (at 5-4 and 6-5), to no avail. The 26-year-old American finally won in just under 1h30.

"I added a little suspense to stay a little longer on this court, I missed it since last year," she joked after her victory on Central Court.
