The Paris Bourse ended in the red on Tuesday, the Italian risk having weighed on the banking stocks while the reservoir of questions on the trade dispute between China and the United States is not empty.

The CAC 40 yielded 23.50 points to 5,312.69 points, in a trade volume fed of 5.1 billion euros. Monday, it ended up 0.37%, fueled by the possible merger between Renault and Fiat Chrysler.

After a start in the green, the Parisian rating has slowed to oscillate around the balance before declining frankly at the end of the session.

"The Italian risk has weighed a little bit on the index", at the time when Rome expects to be punished for excessive deficit by Brussels, observed Thierry Claudé, manager at Kiplink Finance.

As for the "Arlesian" of the trade dispute between China and the United States, "even if the two have an interest in an agreement and neither of them has an interest in it, there is still nothing sure, which does not help the markets, "added the expert interviewed by AFP.

Beijing and Washington seem deadlocked to resolve their trade dispute that has been reflected since last year by reciprocal punitive tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars worth of goods. "But we have positive signals about the possibility of an agreement between the United States and Japan," notes Neil Wilson, an analyst at markets.com.

The US president blew the heat and cold Monday saying that the United States were "not ready" to reach an agreement with China but that there was also "very good chances" to sign soon a text .

Thus, after a good first quarter of 2019, investors are wondering since the beginning of the month "if they will not relive the scenario of last year" marked by a slaughter on the last two months after a first half-year, recognizes Mr. Claudé.

Moreover, "CAC 40 values have detached their dividend from the price" in this period of payment to shareholders (note: mainly between May and June), which had "had a little influence" on the rating, adds -t it.

On the statistical side, consumer confidence in the United States has improved more than expected in May and this optimism prevails for the current situation as for the next six months.
