Images shot in April by L214 showed crowded chickens, selected genetically to grow very quickly, and raised in a closed building under artificial light.

No anomaly was found in the management of the poultry farm located in Solignat, in the Puy-de-Dôme, whose L214 animal welfare association had denounced on May 9 the operating conditions "appalling" said Wednesday the prefecture.

An inspection mission carried out since May 10th made it possible to verify, on site, "the conformity" of this site with the standards in force for the breeding of broilers, specifies the prefecture of Puy-de-Dôme in a communicated. The checks included the compliance of the farm with animal protection and compliance with health rules.

The farm manager had assured "raise the chickens with respect"

Filmed in April, the images broadcast by L214 showed crowded chickens, selected genetically to grow very quickly, which causes bone fragility and difficulty to move, according to the association, and bred for 35 days in a closed building, under artificial light and on the same litter before slaughter.

Contacted, Philippe Mallet, manager of the offending operation, had assured after the broadcast of the video "raise the chickens in the respect", accusing L214 to isolate some images and want to "harm the profession and prevent people from eating meat".
