Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo) managed a stroke in the 9th stage of the Giro, an individual time trial of 34.8 kilometers on Sunday in San Marino.

Roglic dominated his direct rivals, with the exception of Italy's Vincenzo Nibali who gave up just over a minute.

The pink jersey remained on the shoulders of the Italian Valerio Conti (UAE Emirates), who finished in the deluge in 38th place of the time trial.

Roglic, winner of the opening time in Bologna and pink jersey for five days, has signed his second success since the start, his third in the Giro.

The 29-year-old Slovenian beat the current record holder, Belgium's Victor Campenaerts, who was delayed by a bike change and was 11 seconds behind him.

In the rain, varying in intensity but often strong, Nibali, double winner of the Giro (2013 and 2016), dropped 1 min 05 sec in Roglic. The Italian was fourth behind Dutchman Bauke Mollema, third in the 1-minute race from Roglic.

On the other hand, two of the climbers competing for the final victory failed. The British Simon Yates, who left faster than Nibali, collapsed in the final climb and spent 3 minutes 11 seconds in Roglic.

The Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez (3rd of the Giro 2018) gave up almost four minutes to the Slovenian.

In the provisional general classification, Conti now precedes Roglic from 1 min 50 sec.

On Monday, the Giro watches its first day of rest, between Riccione and Ravenna, at the start of the second week of racing and two flat stages.
