Georgy Shengelia, the candidate for mayor of Zugdidi, leads the elections, gaining more than 54% of the vote, and overtakes Sandra Rulovs, the spouse of the former President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili. This was stated during the briefing by the chairman of the CEC Tamar Zhvania.
According to TASS, Shengelia is gaining 54, 45% of the vote, Rulovs - 42.75%.
On Sunday, May 19, elections of mayors of Marneuli, Zestafoni, Khulo, Chiatura and Zugdidi municipalities took place in Georgia.
In addition to the early elections of mayors, Georgia also held interim parliamentary elections in the single-member district of Tbilisi Mtatsminda.
