In Indonesia, dozens of individuals have been arrested, suspected of links with the Islamic State jihadist organization. According to the police, they were preparing a large-scale operation on the occasion of the publication of the results of the presidential election scheduled for 22 May.

Among the suspects is an explosives specialist. According to the police, this experienced artificer was working on a formidable device for triggering a bomb using a Wi-Fi network. This device already seen in the Middle East, but unpublished in Asia has two advantages for terrorists: prevents jamming of telephone signals and increases the detonator's range of action. With this system, a charge can be triggered at a distance of one kilometer.

During the searches, traces of triacetone triperoxide (TATP) were found. This is the same substance used for the Paris attacks in 2015 or the attacks that hit Sri Lanka in late April.

What were the targets? We still do not know it. The interrogations continue. But the investigators face very serious clients, affiliated with the Islamic State group. Many of them are back in Indonesia after a stay in Syria in the ranks of the self-appointed Caliphate. More than 200 people suspected of connection with the jihadist movement have been arrested on Indonesian soil since the beginning of the year.
