The parents of Vincent Lambert, a quadriplegic in a vegetative state for more than ten years, had appealed to the Defender of Rights to obtain the application of the measures requested by the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The Defender of Rights estimated Friday that it "does not belong to him" to decide between the request of the parents of Vincent Lambert, quadriplegic in a vegetative state for more than ten years, and the decisions of the Council of State and the ECHR after the announcement of the next interruption of care.

The lawyers for Vincent Lambert's parents appealed on Monday to the Defender of Rights to intervene to enforce the interim measures requested by the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CIDPH), urging France to suspend any decision to stop Vincent Lambert's treatment, scheduled for May 20, before a hearing on the merits.
