Egypt has officially entered the Guinness Book of World Records on Wednesday as the world's largest bridge in the world.

Earlier in the day, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi opened the center of Rawd al-Faraj and Kobri, "Long live Egypt".

The project was implemented under the supervision and implementation of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, in cooperation with Egyptian companies. It was established at the top of the Nile River, linking Al-Warraq Island to Shubra, contributing to a significant qualitative leap in traffic in Cairo.

After the opening, Talal Omar, Regional Director of the Guinness Book of the Middle East and North Africa, held a press conference with Mohammed Mohsen Salah, Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, announcing the entry of the bridge into the encyclopedia.

"The total width of the bridge is 67.36 meters (221 feet) and the bridge has already been awarded the title of the world's largest cable bridge."

According to Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir, the Ruwad al-Faraj axis is part of the Zafarana Matrouh axis, the Dab'a axis, and an extension of the hub between Bahrain and the Red Sea.

He pointed out that the bridge with its planned lighting "will turn into an icon and an Egyptian icon world."

Al-Sisi opened a number of projects linking the Sinai Peninsula with the rest of the Egyptian territories, especially the tunnel system of the cities of Ismailia and Port Said, which connects the east of the Suez Canal to the west, in addition to a number of floating bridges to facilitate the movement of passengers and goods to and from Sinai .
