Elections in Khakassia were held on a single voting day on September 9.

The former head of the region, Viktor Zimin, scored 32.42% of the vote, losing to the candidate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Valentin Konovalov (44.81%).

Later it became known that Zimin, who took part in the elections of the head of the region from the party "United Russia", withdrew his candidacy from the second round of elections, which were to be held on September 23.

Subsequently, it was reported that the second round was scheduled for October 21. Two candidates can take part in the elections - Konovalov and the representative of the Growth Party, Alexander Myahar, who became the fourth in the first round.

Candidate from "Fair Russia" Andrei Filyagin, who took third place during the vote in September, also withdrew his candidacy.
