The German Federal Nutrition Center said weight gain may be due to water retention in the body, especially in the thighs and legs.

To counter this, German experts advise to reduce salt, because salt causes the retention of water in the body.

According to World Health Organization data, adults should not eat more than five grams of salt daily.

Many electrolytes, such as calcium and magnesium, should also be used to control the water content of the body. The sources of electrolytes are dark leafy vegetables, yogurt and bananas.

In addition, drinking water adequately should be at a rate of two to three liters per day.
