Another close associate of US President Donald Trump has been targeted by the US judiciary: Trump's ex-advisor Roger Stone has been arrested following consistent reports in Florida.

He is charged with seven violations - including false testimony, interference with witnesses and impediments to investigation, according to US special investigator Robert Mueller.

Mueller examines the Russia contacts of the former election team of President Trump.

In mid-June 2018, it became known that there had been a secret meeting between Stone and a Russian citizen in Florida, in which the Russian Stone reportedly wanted to sell harmful information about Hillary Clinton for two million dollars. Stone's lawyer later said his client had turned down the offer. Stone did not comment on the allegations.

Mueller's Russia investigation focuses on the question of whether the presidential elections of 2016 were influenced by foreign powers - especially Russia. And if Trump's campaign team had something to do with such an influence. He rejects that and speaks of a "witch hunt".
