This, according to RIA Novosti, said the US Deputy Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Andrea Thompson.

According to her, the first round of sanctions entered into force on August 22.

"It (Moscow - RT ) must take action to disclose its activities related to chemical weapons. We, however, have no illusions that Russia will take the steps necessary to abolish these sanctions, "she said.

Earlier in the State Department said that the US side is preparing a new "tough" package of sanctions against Russia.

As noted, sanctions can enter into force in connection with Russia's refusal to access various facilities to obtain information that the country is not going to "use chemical weapons in the future."

Journalist Vladimir Solovyov commented on the FAN statement of the US department.
