The Sudanese opposition delegation, following the end of its first meeting with leaders of the transitional military council in Khartoum, called on a civilian government with full executive powers and a fair trial for all those involved in corruption and bloodshed.

The delegation includes ten members representing the Alliance of the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change and the gathering of Sudanese professionals, most notably the President of the Sudanese Congress Party Omar al-Daqir and Maryam Sadiq al-Mahdi, deputy head of the National Umma Party.

After the meeting, Dukir spoke to the protesters in front of the army headquarters, stressing that the demands made by the opposition to the council also included the restructuring of the security and intelligence services.

The delegation called for the participation of civilians in the transitional presidential council with the military council, pointing out that the delegation will submit on Sunday a list of names of the President of the Transitional Military Council, Abdul Fattah Burhan.

Civil authority
A member of the Baath Party's Freedom and Change Alliance, Ali al-Rayah al-Senhouri, said that the authority would remain civilian in Sudan, stressing the demands of forming a civil council, a cabinet and a national and legislative assembly.

The National Congress Party (NDP), in its first reaction since the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir, considered that the transitional military junta violated the constitutional legitimacy, calling for the peaceful rotation of power and the release of detainees from the party leadership.

He said in a statement that "the actions of the military council to take power is a violation of constitutional legitimacy," stressing that he refuses to arrest his leaders and his chief Commissioner and a large number of symbols, and called for their immediate release.

He also called for the establishment of the principle of peaceful transfer of power, and continue to address the economic situation in the country, without isolating anyone.
