According to The Guardian, citing sources, he has already submitted the relevant recommendations of the administration.

"John Bolton is seeking a US withdrawal from the arms control treaty with Russia during the Cold War," the newspaper writes.

He recommends withdrawing from the 1987 treaty, which, according to the United States, is being violated by the Russian side, "developing new cruise missiles."

According to the publication, Bolton may face opponents of such a decision at the Pentagon and the State Department.

As noted, the American side informed the partners in Europe about the relevant proposal in order to evaluate the reaction.

It is emphasized that the “briefing was alarmed” by British officials who believe in the INFR as an important basis for arms control.

At the same time, according to former US officials, Bolton is blocking negotiations on the extension of the 2010 Strategic and Offensive Arms Treaty (START).

Earlier, Bolton said that on arrival in Moscow he intends to continue the dialogue begun by Russia and the United States during the Helsinki summit.

At the same time, as it became known, Russian and American leaders Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump during the Helsinki summit supported the preservation of the START and INF Treaty agreements.
