“This is a very serious problem. Now the number of deserters, those who somehow evade military service by going to Poland, Russia and other countries, is very large. But the initiation of criminal cases in such numbers and the publication of such information may indicate that in Ukraine they are trying to tighten the screws and can prepare for some kind of military operation, ”said the expert.
According to him, with such statements, Kiev "is trying to intimidate those servicemen who can be mobilized."
“In this situation, it is an alarming symptom. It expresses the illness of the Ukrainian society and the army, ”concluded Bezpalko.
Earlier, the main military prosecutor of Ukraine announced the initiation of more than 11 thousand criminal cases on the facts of desertion and evasion from service.
