"What is happening is part of the strategy chosen by Ukraine after they decided to cooperate extensively with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on which cooperation with some other major financial organizations also depends ... Moreover, no one forced them to make price increases for the population one from indicators to continue engaging with the IMF. But Ukrainian leaders have subscribed to this and are now reaping the benefits. And they reap them at the most inopportune moment, ”he said.

The expert recalled that in 2019 Ukraine will hold presidential elections.

In this regard, according to Frolov, Ukrainian politicians are “yulating, trying to somehow delay the increase” in full, since 23.5% is only a part of it.

He also added that already at the moment the Ukrainian side has debts of several billion dollars for utility bills in general and for gas in particular.

“It would be strange if the government of Ukraine could manage to somehow manage and not raise prices, despite the fact that the elections are approaching. Political leaders of the Ukrainian leader will now have to dodge in the most incredible way and explain to voters that Groysman and Poroshenko are not familiar at all. And this increase is in no way connected with the current authorities, and it is necessary to re-vote, ”the expert concluded.

Earlier, the Ukrainian government approved the increase in gas prices from 1 November.
