“For the first time in European history, within the current budget period, the EU has created favorable conditions for the development of military cooperation with an affordable budget of € 590 million,” the European Commission website said on Twitter.

In addition, as indicated in the defense spending plan for 2017–2020, this year the organization also allocated € 25 million to support joint defense research projects.

Earlier, the former Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias expressed the opinion that the European Union should allocate a special budget for new technologies, research and solutions for migration and foreign policy issues.
