The EU called for the transfer of power to a civilian government in Sudan

"Only a reliable and comprehensive political process can satisfy the aspirations of the Sudanese people and lead to the political and economic reforms that the country needs," the text says.

The statement states that "this can be achieved only by the rapid transfer of power to the civilian transitional government."

“In this process, everyone should exercise calm and maximum restraint,” the document says.

On April 11, the Sudanese army announced the removal of head of state Omar al-Bashir from power. Later, the country's Defense Minister Awad bin Auf announced the detention of al-Bashir.
