A tribute ceremony was held this Sunday in Addis Ababa after the death of 157 people in the plane crash of Ethiopian Airlines, a week ago south of the Ethiopian capital. In the meantime, the investigation is continuing. The black boxes began to speak and what Boeing's leaders feared seems to be confirmed: the accident of Ethiopian Airlines has similarities with that of the company Lion Air whose aircraft of the same model crashed in October off from Indonesia, and again shortly after taking off.

Since the beginning, many experts have noted the similarity between the tragedy of flight ET 302 and that of flight 610 of Lion Air.

On October 29th , the plane of the Indonesian airline took off from Jakarta airport before crashing into the Java Sea. In both cases it was a 737 MAX 8 built by Boeing, and each time, the crash took place just after takeoff.

On Sunday, the Ethiopian Minister of Transport confirmed " clear similarities " between the two disasters. She also announced the release of the preliminary investigation report in 30 days.

This statement comes as earlier in the day, the French Bureau of Investigation and Analysis (BEA) has successfully downloaded the information contained in the second black box, the FDR or Flight Data Recorder. This recorder kept the last 25 hours of the flight parameters. Data transmitted to Ethiopian investigators who are in Paris.

On Saturday, the BEA had already managed to retrieve the information contained in the other black box, the CVR or Cockpit Voice Recorder. They contain exchanges between pilots, with the air traffic controllers and the sound environment of the cockpit.

The statement by the Ethiopian minister further reinforces the theory of a 737 MAX 8 design problem, most of which are now grounded around the world.
