Qatar Museums has announced a series of new exhibitions to be held this spring for the Qatari-Indian cultural season and the opening of the Qatar National Museum on March 28, revealing strong indicators of a rich cultural season.

The Qatar Museums program will take place on March 21 at two international exhibitions to be held for the first time in Doha and will be held at the Museum of the Arab Museum of Modern Art until July 31.

The first exhibition will be held under the title "Maqbool Fada Hussain: The Suns of the Sun", while the second exhibition will be held under the title "Dance Group Media: Other Worlds Will Stay".

The first exhibition celebrates the march of the artist Maqbool Fida Hussain (1913-2011), one of the artistic legends that has left a strong imprint on contemporary Indian culture and a clear influence in 20th century art history.

The exhibition, which was overseen by poet and art critic Bombay Rangit Huskout, has more than 100 works by the artist Makboul Fada Hussain. The works range from paintings, drawings, textiles and films, mostly borrowed from Qatar Foundation collections, museums in Qatar, the Gulf region and elsewhere in the world.

On the other hand, the second exhibition will present the music group "Dance Dance Group" which includes 13 different works of art, including two works designed for the exhibition. The works are divided into three galleries on the ground floor of the museum and various places in Doha.

About Hussein
He is considered one of the most influential figures in the art of modernity in India. He was a member of the progressive group known as the Progressive Artists Group, with myths around him, and all aspects of his life were ambiguous.

Born in Bandharpur, he grew up in Indore and Sidpur, set up in Bombay, described himself as a global Bedouin and had strong ties with the United Kingdom, the United States, former Czechoslovakia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, which provided him with refuge when political conditions forced him out of India.

Malvic Exhibition

Artists from 24 March to 31 May will celebrate the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich at an exhibition entitled "Kazimir Malevich: the genius of the Russian vanguard", co-ordinated by Deputy Director of the Russian State Museum Dr. Evgenia Petrova.

Malevich is one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century, and his movement continues to inspire artists and architects all over the world to this day, and has a great place in the history of Russian art.

The exhibition will be the first of its kind in the Gulf region and will be followed by the artist's journey from the adoption of the realist and symbolic nature in the beginning of his artistic career to the work he created a year before his death. It includes many of the famous paintings of the artist, including "Red Square" Above the sun ".

The exhibition was conceived for the first time in the framework of the 2018 Cultural Year, which will allow the local audience to continue to explore the richness of Russian art.

Exhibition about Syria
The exhibition "Syria Peace" will be held at the Museum of Islamic Art and will last until April 30, 2019, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the museum, focusing on the stunning cultural heritage of Syria, which is rooted in the foot.

The main role played by Syria in enriching the history of the world's artistic and cultural movement highlights the many contributions Syria has made to human civilization throughout history.

The exhibition's content, curated by the director of the museum, Dr. Julia Jounila, in cooperation with Rania Abdul Latif, is based on the stunning collection of the Museum of Islamic Art and works from other world renowned museums.

The museums are the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Museum of Ancient Art in the Near East in Berlin and the Berlin State Library, and other collections of Qatar museums such as Orientalists, Qatar National Library and Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Museum.
