" In recent years, we have made a lot of changes, including adopting a hard line on inappropriate behavior by people in positions of authority, " the Google CEO writes in a document to employees. In two years, said Sundar Pichai, 48 employees have been dismissed for sexual harassment, including 13 senior officials.
But according to the New York Times , which revealed the case, the line adopted by the company's management against sex offenders is not that hard. According to newspaper reports, Google has not only done everything to protect its employees accused of sexual harassment, but some of them have even received significant severance pay.
This is the case of Andy Rubin, creator of the Android mobile operating system. After being charged with rape by another employee, he has, according to the New York Times , left Google in 2014 with a check for $ 90 million.
The company, for its part, disputes the payment of any compensation whatsoever. The former top official, meanwhile, denies the facts. " Mr. Rubin has never behaved inappropriately, either at Google or elsewhere, " said his lawyer.
