US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a speech on Thursday afternoon in Cairo that his country would continue to work through "diplomacy" with its allies to expel the last Iranian soldier from Syria even after the withdrawal of US troops from the country.

In his speech at the American University, the US Secretary of State called on countries in the Middle East to overcome "old rivalries" to confront Iran.

He stressed that his administration is working to establish a strategic alliance in the Middle East to address the most important threats in the region, praising the efforts of US allies in the region to establish peace.

"Iran's ambitions are not limited to the Middle East," Pompeo warned, calling on all countries to cooperate to counter the Iranian approach.

He stressed that the withdrawal of his troops from Syria will not affect the commitment of the United States to fight the Islamic state organization "and will not affect our fight against terrorism."

On the other hand, Pompeo pledged that Washington would continue to work to "maintain Israel's military capabilities" to "defend itself against the aggressive adventurism of the Iranian regime."

He warned that the United States would not allow Hizbollah to continue its status in Lebanon and that it would deploy guided missiles directly to Israel.
