The annual report of the State of Peace and Security in Africa revealed that the UAE's interventions in the Horn of Africa have contributed to the complexity of the bilateral relations among the countries of the region, which will cause any attempts at regional reforms to be thwarted.

The report, launched within the eighth edition of the Tana Peace and Security Forum in Bahr Dar, northern Ethiopia, said that the UAE's militarization of the Red Sea region would have many security implications for the region.

The report pointed out that the UAE's cooperation deals with Somaliland and Puntland were opportunistic, as it did not take into account the complications and divisions between these two administrations and the central government in Somalia.

He also emphasized that the UAE's intervention policy in the affairs of the Horn of Africa would weaken the IGAD and its security structure, especially by raising the suspicions of some of the traditional Gulf allies such as Sudan and Djibouti.

The Tana Forum on Peace and Security over the past two days discussed a number of issues and issues relating to peace, security and African issues and highlighted the political dynamics in the Horn of Africa, with special emphasis on peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea as a model in the region.

The Tana Forum was established in 2009 with the aim of implementing the Tripoli Declaration issued by the Extraordinary African Summit held in the same year and devoted to conflicts in the African continent. Since its founding as an annual consultation platform, experts have been gathering with African politicians and leaders to explore security solutions to the continent's problems.
