The Dutch investor Harry van Caem has apparently donated 60,000 euros to the CDU. This is shown by research by the SPIEGEL and portal Abgeordnetenwatch.de.

The investor is developing several residential and commercial projects in Berlin-Lichtenberg with thousands of apartments and offices. Two companies affiliated with van Caem transferred € 60,000 to the CDU in 2016 and 2017 together.

Van Caem's managing director explained in a telephone call that the money had flowed to the CDU in Lichtenberg. You have to support certain people to stop doors.

Upon written request, Harry van Caem later denied this statement. Act in the "legal framework" and make "many donations and charities to several and different parties".

The CDU Lichtenberg, which had last used for van Caems projects, left open whether the money flowed to their district association. In a statement, she said, "It's nice that Mr. van Caem donated to the CDU and we're happy to receive any support."
