LONDON (Reuters) - Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah was hit hard on Saturday night during his side's game against Newcastle United at St James Park in the English Premier League.

While Salah was trying to follow an airball, his head hit Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Doverbaka in the 69th minute. He could not get up and complete the game, leaving the stadium in tears after putting him on the move in the 72nd minute.

The result was a 2-2 draw when Salah left the pitch, replacing Belgium's Divok Oregee, who managed to score Liverpool's third goal in the 86th minute to end the game with a 3-2 win over the Reds.

Liverpool remain top of the league table with 94 points, two points ahead of nearest Manchester City.

Salah scored his second goal in the game, leading the season's top scorer with 22 goals.

The injury is the second strong and serious injury to Mohammed Salah in Liverpool shirt after being injured in the Champions League final.

Liverpool are expected to play a crucial game on Tuesday against Barcelona at Anfield in the Champions League semi-final.
