A 42-year-old Metz policeman killed himself with his service weapon at his home on the night of Monday to Tuesday.

A policeman from the administrative detention center in Metz committed suicide in the night from Monday to Tuesday with his service weapon, said Wednesday the union Alternative Police, confirming information from France Bleu radio.

"The discomfort is deep"

The 42-year-old policeman, father of a four-year-old child, killed himself at his home with his service weapon, said Cyril Baudesson, secretary of the Alternative Police CFDT union for the East. An investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie of Metz.

According to Cyril Baudesson, this is the 27th suicide of a police officer since the beginning of the year. "The discomfort is deep, we must find real solutions to this scourge," said Cyril Baudesson, whose union will organize on May 22 a symposium in Paris on police suicides.
